Luisini Boardwalk is located along Lake Goollelal in the Yellagonga Regional Park, Western Australia. Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) manufactured and supplied materials to Element Construction WA for the 450m Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) boardwalk for Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA).

The boardwalk substructure is constructed from Wagners CFT Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP), while the decking features timber that blends the natural beauty and comfort of wood with the durability and low maintenance benefits of FRP.

DBCA have used their own custom stainless steel, shallow micropile anchor footing system which were installed by hand. The footing system is designed to minimise ground intrusion and remove the need for any localised excavation which helps protect the environmentally and culturally sensitive area from damage from machinery required to install traditional footings.

FRP is the perfect solution for the substructure of the Luisini Boardwalk because it’s:

  • Durable – with a 100-year design life
  • Inert – so will not rot, rust or corrode
  • Cost effective – through reduced maintenance/replacement cycles
  • Non-leaching and non-toxic making it safe for this high value conservation area
  • Resistant – to termites, acid sulfate soils and marine borer

The Luisini Boardwalk offers an unforgettable experience that immerses visitors in the surrounding natural landscape. As you move along the boardwalk, ever-changing views across the lake and wetlands create a sense of calm and discovery, making each step both engaging and memorable.
